Tampa Bay sport fishing in a nutshell

Springtime fishing in the Tampa area is right on schedule, and actually a bit early. Kingfish have made an appearance in a big way and will continue to invade the local waters of Tampa and St. Pete Beach as long as this mild weather persists. Expect things to get really hot though as summer approaches, with Spanish mackerel, Bonito, King fish and Barracuda making their way into the sport fishing scenario, things are only getting better.
Today's 4 hour charter was a mixed bag in itself. Repeat clients like Keith, Dan and Patrick, along with newcomers to the sport, Mike Fricke and his pal, Doug, were all excited to see some big Groupers...and that they did! Again, we had to release every Gag Grouper, every Red Grouper and allot of painful sighs of non-relief. What a bunch of B.S.!...We are catching(and releasing) Gag and Red Grouper on every trip, even when they are not the main target. Check out one of many double hook-ups with big Gag Grouper, in only 40 feet of water. Keith and Doug did everything right to land these bad boys!!..
The Kingfish were also active at this depth and the boys managed 4 fish in the 15-20 pound slot to the fish box. Not bad for a slow tide, and only 4 hours to get it done. The guys were feeling it and everyone on board had a great time....my job is done here, and I know they will be back-again!
