Jawbreaker fishing charters had the pleasure to host Father and Son fishing team, Tom and Tom Ames, on Saturday's half day fishing charter out of St.Pete Beach, Florida. These guys were first-timers to fishing the Gulf of Mexico, and the fishing was good!
Our original plan was to fish in the 60-85 foot range, but an 'unplanned' speed bump kept us closer to shore. Regardless, the first fish of the day was a doozie! Check out Tom Sr. with a beautiful Bonito caught on 10# spinning gear. Tom was looking for a battle, but come on....his arms hurt! Boo hoo...good job big man! As the beers were flowing, the spoons and plugs were trolling, and several very nice Spanish mackerel made their place in the fish box.
A quick stop at the local 'snapper shop' put a few more fish in the box for a full scale fish fry for 20. Of course, we released dozens of juvenile Red Grouper along with a couple of large Gag Grouper. As stated before...fishing was good. Notable fish(s) of the day: Tom Sr.'s Bonito, Tom Sr.'s 4# Mangrove snapper and Tom Sr.'s 5# Spanish mackerel. Job well done guys! We look forward to next year's offshore adventure. Until then, happy fishing! Capt.Dan
