Shark attack on a Tampa Bay fishing charter

Well, not exactly a shark attack...but ask Frank Pucher how the scenario went down when this giant Nurse shark hit his line and he would describe it as "mayhem". We started this half day fishing charter out of St.Pete beach like most others, trolling for Spanish mackerel and other toothy pelagics. The Betty Rose was holding a few macks but getting them past the Barracudas was almost immpossible.
We decided that bottom fishing would be our best bet since the grouper fishing has been fairly decent in shallow waters. We hit 50 feet and off to the races! The bite was hot and our new friends were busy catching grouper, snapper, porgies and ...Sharks!! Frank almost got pulled in the water, and it was all he could do to hold onto the fishing rod when this beast hit. After that battle, he was done for the day!
Bottom fishing for grouper and snapper can lead to many different species coming boatside. Book a fishing charter with Jawbreaker fishing charters and see what Mother nature has in store for you. We are booking charters daily and the fishing has never been better. Happy fishing to ya. Capt. Dan
