Scott Kidd and his dad, John, were looking for a 4-hour fishing charter on St.Pete Beach, to spend some quality time together and “possibly bring home a fillet or two for dinner”. Let's just say these guys got what they were looking for...and then some. Big Red and Gag Groupers kept this father and son team pinned to the rails...and kept us tying lots of leaders.Ouch!
Red Grouper fishing in the nearshore/offshore waters of Tampa Bay has been all the buzz this season amongst charter fishing captains and normal recreational fisherman alike. The magic number has been 40...yes, 40 feet with some of the best Red Grouper fishing seen in decades. Small natural breaks, ledges and bait stacks are all holding good numbers of Red Groupers, with a few Gags scattered in there. Of course, as soon as Gag Grouper fishing opened on July 1st, the Gags sort of 'high-tailed' it outta here, for the most part. But that's okay, the Reds have kept our customers very busy, and happy!
Check out Scott Kidd with the first 2 fish of the day...literally, that's what I am talking about folks. These guys were treated to non-stop action that ended with 3 keeper Gags and 3 keeper Red Groupers...dinner for 12, way to go boys, not a bad half day charter, eh? Jawbreaker fishing charters will be here for ya next year too. Happy fishing, Capt.Dan
