Well,we have been waiting for the signs of spring and finally its here. Randy Manning and crew booked a 2-boat fishing charter out of St.pete beach on Wednesday and were rewarded with multiple species for the fish box. The water temps are still in the low 60's in Tampa Bay and the Gulf of Mexico, but the fishing is heating up.
Our plan was to do the same thing we have been doing for the past couple of months, catch and release grouper. But when we approached our fishing spot there were gulls diving as far as the eye could see. I knew this meant mackerel. We quickly deployed some trolling hardware and instantly had a double hook-up. We had a dozen fish in the box before we knew it. I just love fishing in Tampa this time of year. There was even a radio report of a Cobia being caught nearby where we were fishing. Oh, spring at last!
Here is Luke with one of the many fish he caught on this charter fishing trip with the Jawbreaker. Sorry no pics of the Mackerels, maybe when they grow a bit. However, if you would like to see some for yourself...book a fishing trip now. We will be targeting both Kingfish and Spanish Mackerel on most of our charters, even grouper fishing charters. Get out of the snow and come to Tampa for a great day of fishing with Jawbreaker Fishing Charters Inc. Happy fishing to ya,Capt. Dan
