They're back...the King fish have arrived for the annual Fall run and the numbers look great! From Clearwater Beach to John's Pass and down to St.Pete Beach, fishing has been normal but the catching has been way above average. Spanish mackerel and Bonitos are seen busting the surface for Skipjacks and Threadfins in almost any direction you look these days, and you can expect this to be the case for several weeks to come. And the King fish, let's just say they are hot on their tail...uh, trail.
One of last week's offshore adventures put Ron Sebesta and crew, from Sante Fe, New Mexico, on board the Jawbreaker fishing vessel for a little outdoor action, Florida style! These guys are all about the great outdoors, and definetly fishermen, but I don't think they knew what they were getting into when they stepped onto the Jawbreaker. "This isn't fishing..this is catching!" was sort of the theme for the day...again. Non-stop action with the mackerels and Bonitos constantly keeping a rod bent, and then a star is born!
Check out Ron with his trophy King fish caught 200 yards off Madeira Beach on John's Pass, Fl. Tight work Ron! Looking forward to fishing with you guys in the Spring..happy fishing until then, Capt.Dan
