Fishing in, on, off or near St.Pete Beach just keeps getting better...it really doesn't matter where you go right now, the fishing is hot! I guess I should say inshore, onshore, offshore or nearshore, either way Jawbreaker fishing charters place is offshore the beautiful beaches off St.Pete/Clearwater and that's where Rob Wereen and family wanted to go...again.
This was not Rob's first rodeo on the Jawbreaker, and probably won't be his last. We started just off the beach with big Spanish mackerels coming over the rail one after one, and a quick jaunt down to the 'ditch' to put on a live bait King fishing seminar, you know, for the other guys...ouch! Anyway, after putting a few true 'smoker' Kings in the box it was off to the Grouper fishing grounds...and the bite was good.
Bottom fishing in 70 feet of water was more productive than I was expecting. 12 keeper Red Grouper, 40 plus Mangos, Greys and Porgies helped fill the fish box to the top. Of course we always have a flatline out and today it remained silent, until we asked for it. "Please just give us something special on the flatline" I said, about 2 minutes before we were gonna pull the hook and head home, and only 10 seconds before the flatline went off!!..Check out Rob Wereen, wife Susan and daughters Megan and Hanna with a Blackfin Tuna bonus fish to end an already great day fishing! Tight work boys and girls.
And so ends another blue water adventure on the Jawbreaker. "You're really gonna have to raise the bar next time, huh capt?" Rob said on the way in...Indeed, indeed I will. Happy fishing folks, Capt.Dan
