Get in the Spring King Swing

Yes sir, the annual Kingfish run has started for St.Pete Beach and the entire Tampa Bay area and Jawbreaker fishing charters is hot on their trail. Bait pods are showing up all along the bay area beaches and offshore wrecks, and where theres bait theres a King fish or two preying about.

A recent 4 hour fishing charter put us in the nearby Egmont Shipping Channel where the Spanish mackerel were obviously setting up shop...I mean, we could not keep these toothy little speed demons off the line, and that was a good thing! After we had about 25 nice 'macks' in the box it was time for a change in plan-slow-trolling fresh caught live blue runners right where the macks were feeding. The second bait wasn't even out all the way before the water exploded and a silver streak flashed across the surface with the classic signature of a "smoker" King mackerel...now we're fishing!
