Fishing in Tampa Bay for King and Spanish mackerel

Fishing in Tampa Bay and nearshore Gulf of Mexico is about as hot as it can get right now. Our Tampa Bay fishing charters are producing both King mackerel and Spanish mackerel in record numbers, just underneath the Skyway bridge. Oh, don't forget the Bonitos! Check out Tom and our recent clients with a nice specimen.
Even though most Tampa Bay anglers would by-pass the Bonito as a "trash" fish, the fight is beyond that of any mackerel...pound-for-pound. Tampa fishing guides know the value of these hard fighting fish, even though they are not sought for table fare. Fishing on or near St.Pete beach, John's Pass, Indian Rocks and Clearwater beach will produce the best results. Expect to find a number of different species when trolling the Gulf coast.
We are starting to see the Tarpon move in to the Tampa Bay area. Our fishing trips in Tampa Bay can fish for several different species on the same trip this time of year. Troll for mackerel in the morning, bottom fish for grouper after that, and hit the Tarpon in the afternoon...what a plan!
