Fast and furious fishing

Well, that's one way to describe this past Sunday's fishing charter. The fishing was fast and the weather became furious. Luckily, Robert and his 3 young boys, Thadius, Garrett and Kaleb, and brother, Travis, were not shaken very easily. We did manage to catch a few nice fish before I had to make the call to head home.
This time of year can be challenging when it comes to predicting the weather. Even spending allot of time in front of the radar, making sure of the track of a particular storm, can end up being misleading. I did just that Sunday morning. There was a very large storm cell, just North of the Bay area, making it's way further to the North and East. I figured we were in the clear, as we would be heading to the Southwest....wrong. As the Sun came up the winds shifted 180 degrees and so did the weather.
We did reach the fishing grounds, just a few miles off St.Pete Beach, and started catching Red Groupers, Grey Snappers and Spanish mackerel right away. Within 30 minutes, the atmosphere changed and the winds picked up...big time! Then the rain started, and the boys were still catching fish as if it were a sunny day. Eventually, with the lightning joining the party(not the hockey team), it was time to take cover and move towards the beach. Unfortunately, the weather was not going to let up any time soon and we were done for the day, fortunately, we had a nice box of fresh fish to clean back at the dock.
The young ones had a good time, and Mom was glad to see her boys arrive home, safe...and happy! Jawbreaker fishing charters cannot always guarantee what the weather will do, but our focus is always on 'Safety First', you can't end up as a repeat client if we don't bring you back from the previous trip. Call today and know that you will be in safe hands on your next fishing trip into Mother Nature's backyard. Happy fishing to Ya, Capt.Dan
