Clearwater beach fishing charter in the fog

Keith Meyers is a veteran fisherman on the Jawbreaker. I believe this was trip number 6 or 7 for him on our charter fishing boat. We always do an 8-hour trip bottom fishing for Grouper and Snapper off Clearwater beach,Florida. Oh, and we almost always end up fishing in the fog. I guess it is the time of year, late winter, when fog can be a common occurrence. It has something to do with air temp. vs. water temp. vs. moisture in the atmosphere.....I am a charter boat captain not a meteorologist!

We released about a dozen keeper Gag Grouper, Red Grouper, tons of grunts and had a great time doing it. The catch of the day came on a "chicken-rig", a special 2-hook leader made with flourocarbon. A Gag Grouper going about 15lbs. ate a tiny piece of squid on one of the 1/0 hooks. Sorry, no pic of this pig. I was preoccupied at the time with the USCG on the radio. We were approached by another fishing boat that claimed to be taking on water a.k.a. sinking! You never know what you will find, or what will find you, out in the Gulf of Mexico.

Well. here is a pic of Keith in the fog with a lucky Grouper about to go back to his underwater hideout in the beautiful Gulf of Mexico. Until next time, happy fishing to ya! Capt.Dan
