Can you say 'nice grouper' in french? Well, Francois certainly can. He and wife, Marie, and daughter Izzy came all the way from France to fish the Jawbreaker. With the guidance of John and Alex Youngman from St.Petersburg, Florida-our European friends were able to experience Florida charter fishing from John's Pass. The weather was perfect and the fish were hungry.
Our first stop was trolling for mackerel just off St.Pete beach and they were small and few. We moved out to the St.Petersburg reef to do some fishing for 'macks' and Barracuda...no luck! With the Westerly winds, the weeds have taken over and made trolling very difficult if not, impossible. Well, bottom fishing for grouper from St. Pete and Tampa is doing well right now. We decided to anchor up and fish. Good call..the fish were on fire. With the upcoming full moon, the fish were very active.
Check out Francois with his first Grouper, a nice 22" Red grouper ready for the grill! Tres Bien Francois!...or....You Da Man Frank!!..(St.Pete,FL. lingo) Anyway, once again, we have been blessed with meeting cool people from all over the globe, as well as new friends that live just blocks away from us. How cool is that?
Call Jawbreaker fishing charters for your next family fishing outing...we don't speak french, but we do catch fish. Oui, Oui poisson!!Happy fishing to ya, capt. Dan
